The 2008 NHL Playoffs are approaching the end of the first round, but there’s still time to pick the Stanley Cup winner in NHL hockey Futures betting.

Of the remaining teams, the Detroit Red Wings have emerged as the favorite to win the 2008 Stanley Cup at 5-2 odds at Bodog. Detroit, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, beat the Nashville Predators in the first round.

The San Jose Sharks, who face the Calgary Flames in the seventh and deciding game of their first-round series Tuesday, are 6-1 to win the NHL championship. The Sharks had entered the post season as the favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Meanwhile, Calgary can still be had at 18-1 odds.

Another Game 7 goes Monday night, with the Boston Bruins battling longtime rival Montreal Canadiens in the deciding game of their first-round NHL Playoff series. Montreal, the East No. 1 heading into the playoffs, is 8-1 to win the cup, while Boston remains a longshot at 30-1.    

The Pittsburgh Penguins, who swept the Ottawa Senators in four-straight games in the first round, are 7-2.

The Dallas Stars, who knocked out the defending champion Anaheim Ducks in five games, have moved up to an 8-1 favorite.

Oddsmakers at Bodog have the Canadiens listed as a -200 moneyline favorite tonight against the Bruins, while the total is 5.

The Bruins scored four goals in a wild third period to defeat the Canadiens 5-4 in Game 6 on Saturday, as +120 underdogs. Oddsmakers had the Canadiens as -140 favorites.
