The NHL Conference Finals are set, and it's going to be hard to top the drama we had in the semifinals. Three of the four semifinal series went down to Game 7. Carolina shocked the number 1 seeded Boston Bruins in overtime, The Red Wings survied their Game 7 against the Ducks with a late 3rd period goald, and in less dramatic fashion, the Pittsburgh Penguins dominated from start to finish in their Game 7 triumph over the Washington Capitals. It seems like over a week ago that the Chicago Blackhawks finished off the Vancouver Canucks in a hard fought 6 game series.
I'm looking forward to the Blackhawks/Red Wings series. They are two of the original 6 NHL teams and its a rematch from January's Winter Classic held at Wrigley Field. Be sure to check back this weekend for Mike Ivcic's full preview and predictions for the 2009 NHL Conference Finals.
